Can you relate to any of these experiences?
Constantly Over Achieving or Striving for Perfection
Feeling like you always need to be doing something, and no matter how much you achieve, you never feel like it’s good enough.
The thought of slowing down may cause anxiety so you bury yourself in work or you career, often neglecting other aspects of your life.
You may even have an incredibly loud inner critic and find yourself constantly worried about what others may think of you and have a hard time being vulnerable with people.
Feeling Stuck or Unable To Take Action On What You Want
No matter what you do, it feels like the world is moving way too fast and you just can’t keep up.
You have so much you want to do in your life but feel overwhelmed with how to navigate it all; often feeling confused or unsure about what direction to take so you don’t take any action at all.
When you try to move forward, you may find yourself facing crippling anxiety, confusion, self doubt or uncertainty.
Running on Empty, Feeling Deflated or Exhausted
You find yourself constantly pouring into others but very rarely allow yourself to be held by someone else whether it be out of shame, distrust or not wanting to feel like a burden.
You may self isolate and have a hard time trusting other people to be able to hold you. You’re often seen as the “strong friend” but internally, you may feel like you never belong.
Feeling like a shell of who you used to be, low self esteem
You may find yourself often reminiscing on times when you felt more confident, at ease, or happy leaving you feeling frustrated with your present day self.
You question if you’ll ever be able to feel that way again and often find yourself making risky or poor decisions whether it be in relationships, career, or health that deep down you know don’t serve you but you can’t seem to break past your self destructive patterns.
If you find yourself saying YES to any of this, you need to know, there IS a way out AND things CAN get better.

I know EXACTLY how you feel.
Growing up with severe Complex Trauma, chronic depression, and a history of self harm, I’ve spent the better half of the last 15+ years obsessing over personal development and self help tools trying to fix myself but never getting to the root of my trauma.
I felt ALL the symptoms mentioned above, and then some.
It wasn’t until after I had my son through a fairly traumatic birth experience in the middle of a global pandemic that my coping strategies failed and I went into a sever depression, that I was forced to do something different.
I’ve spent the last 3+ years intensely studying, training and receiving support from trauma trained experts in the fields of Somatic Experiencing® and Early Developmental Trauma.
And though this process at times has felt painstakingly slow, I am beyond words for the immense impact this work has had on my life.
Recovering from complex trauma IS possible.
In deep gratitude to the mentors, teachers, and facilitators who’ve held me in my deepest sorrows I’ve been able to reclaim my innocence, vitality and lust for life.
I’ve discovered a newfound sense of confidence and self assuredness I had previously only dreamt of. I no longer find myself hyper fixating on my pain or past, but rather, I have been able to repair the ruptures from childhood and develop the capacity to boldly pave the way forward for a life that nourishes and fulfills me.
Now I’m eager to help others do the same.

— It's never too late to create a life that both nourishes and sustains you —
No matter where you're starting from.
How Does Private Coaching Work?

What's Included
Client Trauma History Intake Form
Part of ensuring quality support for each of my clients is having an in depth understanding of your personal history so I can best support you.
I’ll ask for you to complete a fairly thorough intake questionnaire that will provide me with everything I need to know about your mental health history and medical background.
Ad hoc 55-Minute Coaching Sessions
I offer both virtual and in person sessions for folks who are in the North County San Diego area.
Virtual sessions are held over zoom as video calls and are NOT recorded unless the client requests to do so themselves.
Sessions held in person take place at our Oceanside office.
Payment is due at the time of booking, I offer sliding scale pricing from $100 – $200 USD per session.
Email support provided between sessions
I offer minimal email support between sessions in the case of crisis or an emergency.
If a client is needing more hands on support in between sessions, we may discuss options for ongoing support via voxer.
Clients have the option to book ad hoc sessions at their own convenience OR for clients desiring ongoing support, I offer slightly reduced packages for month to month coaching.
It is recommended that clients plan on a minimum six months of working together to receive the most benefits from this work.
I'm Soph!
Heyyo,
My pronouns are: She/Her/Hers
I’m a biracial first generation Mexican American cis woman that’s native to San Diego, CA.
If you were to explore my trauma history, you’d find my ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) score rather high and my achievements thus far to be a bit of an anomaly.
As a mom to a wildly spunky three year old son, a newly diagnosed ADHDer, and someone who’s had a lifelong relationship with depression and anxiety that would later be diagnosed as PMDD, I appreciate the realness that comes from having lived through a lot of life early on.
I am a trauma *trained* practitioner, not just a coach.
Though my life experience is incredibly valuable and valid, it’s important for me to emphasize that my capacity and ability to support clients in navigating such tender work is due to my intensive training in trauma resolution modalities.
Not only have I spent hundreds of hours studying, practicing, and receiving support, I am also under supervision from mentors and regularly receive additional case consultation from accredited faculty members.

Disclaimer
Trauma Recovery Coaching is a unique and newer approach to navigating mental and emotional wellbeing. It’s important that all potential clients understand that Trauma Recovery Coaching is NOT Therapy and Somatics with Soph is NOT a Licensed LMFT or other Licensed Medical Professional.
Trauma Recovery Coaching is a Holistic combination of scientifically proven and researched modalities such as Somatic Experiencing® and NeuroAffective Touch® along with additional tools that may be brought in to support clients including parts work, inner child work, breathwork, somatic movement and more.
That being said, Trauma Recovery Coaching can be extremely beneficial for folks who have not seen great progress in traditional therapy settings or in traditional coaching containers.
Folks with serious mental health disorders such as Schizophrenia, BPD, or Suicidal Ideation are highly encouraged to seek licensed professional help from a psychotherapist prior or in tandem to receiving support from Somatics with Soph.
We cannot and do not prescribe medication, dietary plans or other types of medical advice nor do we diagnose clients.
Coaching and Somatic Experiencing® is designed to be a complimentary experience to support clients in better managing their symptoms, regulating their emotions, and moving out of intense emotional spaces that may currently feel debilitating by providing practical and actionable tools and resources to help repair ruptures.
No. Currently we do NOT operate under any licensing and are NOT a therapist.
Therefore this type of support is not considered therapy but rather coaching as Soph is not able to diagnose any mental illnesses or prescribe any sort of medication. If you believe you need diagnosis, we suggest reaching out to your local healthcare provider.
Because we are not a licensed medical professional, most health insurance plans do not cover the cost of our services but you can look at the potential of getting reimbursed by your health insurance for the cost of services.
Because every client is unique and their needs are highly different, it varies on a case by case basis.
The process of working through somatic experiencing for trauma resolution and recovery is a slow and titrated one that allows ample time for the body to reintegrate and reorganize as we create opportunities for repair.
That being said, at a minimum I advise clients to start with an initial six month commitment at the frequency that feels most feasible for them.
The ideal scenario for working through specific material would be meeting 2-3 times each month for a minimum of 6-12 months.
However, because the cost of mental health services may be extraneous for some folks who are unable to afford this level of care, I offer ad hoc sessions that clients can book at their own pace.
The average client will work with me for 1-2 years with variances on both ends.
Though I do offer business consultation and mentorship, this container is specifically geared towards Trauma Recovery and Trauma Resolution work and is priced accordingly.
If you’d like to receive support for business consultation or mentorship, please email me at sophie@sophiekessner.com and we can connect on what you’re currently needing and what options may be the best for you right now
When asked about the impact of Somatic work, this is often a term we’ll use. In the process of the work, it can feel like watching paint dry because the pacing tends to be much slower, softer and more subtle than other modalities.
Somatic Experiencing® is not about “fireworks” and cathartic releases, but rather about the ability to work at the natural pace of the nervous system that’s in front of us allowing for ample time and spaciousness for deep integration and trauma renegotiation work to happen.
After personally trying countless tools and modalities in my own personal journey, I have found Somatic work to be an integral part of my growth and healing journey which is why I feel so passionate about integrating this work into the world of entrepreneurship.
